Anvi Folder Locker is a free software to password protect important files and folders on Windows operating system. This free file and folder locking software sports an elegant and easy-to-use user interface. The interface is much polished compared to other free folder locking software out there for Windows.

When you launch Anvi Folder Locker for the first time, you’ll be asked to set a master password. The program also asks for a valid email address but the email address will be used only if you ever forgot the master password. This is probably an innovative idea as in other folder locking software, there is no way to access password protected folders without the master password. In plain English, while using Anvi Folder Locker, if you ever forgot the master password, you can use the email address to reset the password.
The other cool thing about Anvi Folder Locker is that it adds Lock with Anvi Folder Locker option to file context menu, allowing you to quickly lock files without having to manually launch Anvi Folder Locker. For those who are not interested in this context menu feature, there is an option present under Settings to remove the option from context menu.
In addition to locking folders, the tool also lets change folder permissions to stop others from viewing, modifying and deleting files. For instance, when you set the attribute of a folder to ReadOnly, users will be able to view the contents of the folder but will not able to modify or delete them. Likewise, when you the folder attribute is set to Lock, users will be able to see the folder but can’t open the folder.
The ability to set different passwords for different folders is another interesting feature of the program. Although it will be very difficult to remember all passwords, users who want better security can set different passwords for different folders.
