How to fix iPhone 6 errors 4005, 4013 & 4014 after iOS 8.3 update [Troubleshooting Guides]

Many iPhone 6 users encountered errors during and after the iOS 8.3 update. The errors I will tackle in this post occur during the update and restore process. But they will only occur if the device is trying to update using a computer.

iPhone Error 4005 - this happens when you update your iPhone 6 or any iOS device for that matter and the connection between the phone and the computer is cut off. Since the update is interrupted, you cannot continue with it and your phone is left with its current iOS version. This error doesn't have any impact on the performance of the phone but it requires you to download the entire update again. However, if the error still occurs the second time around, you've got to do something to troubleshoot it.

iPhone Error 4013 - now this error occurs when you're trying to restore your iPhone 6. Similar to the previous error, this happens when the connection between is interrupted during the restore process.

iPhone Error 4014 - this one is more of a driver issue than anything else. If your computer cannot recognize your iPhone 6 when plugged in, then you're probably going to encounter this problem when you update or restore your phone.

Now, here are some troubleshooting procedures you need to do to fix any of these errors:

  1. Close iTunes, open it again and restore or update your iPhone one more time.
  2. If the previous step didn't fix the problem, disconnect your iPhone from your computer and reboot the machine.
  3. If the error still occurs, make sure the drivers in your computer (Windows) are updated or properly installed. If you are an OS X user, make sure the system is updated.
  4. Try a different USB cable because there's always a possibility the cable has a defect or breakage.
  5. If possible, try to restore your device using a different computer, or download the update straight to your phone.

If all else fails, contact Apple for support.
