This content will help you troubleshoot and fix an iPhone problem, particularly when the device is not responding or does not turn on. The methods elaborated below can also be used to troubleshoot the same problem with other iOS devices -- iPods, iPhones or iPads. Read on to learn what to do when your iPhone 6 does not turn on or is not responding to user-inputted commands.

Sometimes, you will just find out that your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch stops responding to switches, buttons or touchscreen inputs and may show any of the following symptoms:

- can't get past the Apple logo
- unable to 'Slide to Unlock' or 'Slide to Power off'
- doesn't return to the Home screen when pressing the Home button
- doesn't wake from Sleep after pressing the Sleep/Wake button
- doesn't power on at all

What to do if any of these things happen on your new iPhone 6 device?

Here are the recommended methods to fix these problems. Be sure to test your device after completing each recommended procedure to determine whether it has fixed the problem. Proceed to the next methods when necessary.

1. Force Close Apps

If your iPhone is not responding while using certain app, you can force close the app given your device still reacts or to button presses. Here's how to force close apps on your iPhone 6:

a. Press the Home button twice, quickly. You will be prompted with small previews of the applications you recently used.

b. Swipe left to locate the app you want to close.

c. To close the app, swipe up on its preview.

The recently used apps that show on screen after you press the Home button two times quickly are not open. Instead, they are in an efficient standby mode.

2. Restart your iPhone

A simple phone restart often times worked when the device becomes unresponsive or if certain controls are not working properly. To restart your iPhone just press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider shows, then drag the slider to turn the phone completely off. Wait for a few seconds then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button again until you see the Apple Logo.

3. Reset your iPhone

You may need to reset your iPhone especially if it remains unresponsive or does not power on no matter how you tried. This however should be considered your last resort, and only if you really cannot power on your device.

To reset your iPhone, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo, and complete the entire reset process.

4. Ensure your iPhone has enough charge to turn on.

It's possible that your iPhone has no enough battery power that's why you are seeing no display or screen remains black. Try to connect it to a charger and let it charge for at least 20 minutes, then check it.

Also try to press the Sleep/Wake button to wake the device, especially if there's no image showing on screen while the device is on.

If the aforementioned troubleshooting methods do not resolve the problem, or your iPhone screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, then try to restore it with iTunes.

Follow these steps to use iTunes and restore your iPhone 6:

a. Connect your iPhone to your computer.

b. Open iTunes on your computer.

c. If your phone appears in iTunes, select and click on Restore on the Summary pane. But if it doesn't show in iTunes, try to force your iPhone into recovery mode, then restore it.

Follow these steps to use recovery mode to restore your iPhone:

a. Turn off your iPhone and leave it off.

b. Now plug in your iPhone's USB cable to a computer with iTunes installed.

c. Hold down the Home button on your iPhone as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you will see the Connect to iTunes screen.

d. Release the Home button when you see this screen. If you don't see this screen, then try doing steps 1 through 3 again until it shows.

e. You will then be prompted with a message saying that iTunes has detected your iPhone in recovery mode, when iTunes will open with your iPhone connected. Tap OK to use iTunes to restore your device.

Important Note:

Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. In this regard, you may consider creating backup of all your personal information before you initiate restore in recovery mode. After using recovery mode, restart your iPhone.

If problem persists after doing all these, then please contact your phone carrier or Apple Support team to escalate the problem and asked for further recommendations and troubleshooting assistance.
